Running for a Better Oakland is Lining Up for Another Year of Training Students to Compete in Local Races!
With our first race of 2025 in the record books, Running for a Better Oakland is now sprinting towards our Spring 2025 Season! Over the next three months, we aim to provide 200 students with everything they need to train and succeed in four local races/fun runs (plus a half-marathon for our Senior Scholarship applicants!). Your contributions will help us provide every student with healthy snacks, quality apparel, free race entries, and more. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today to support RBO students during our Spring 2025 season!
The Season Start Line Campaign will continue until our first practice of the season on February 22nd!
Running for a Better Oakland is getting ready to start another tuition-free running season with Oakland students! Our volunteer run mentors and coaches can’t wait to get back to work helping students train and compete in local races while developing critical life skills that can help them succeed beyond the finish line.
This season’s schedule is jam-packed with a season kick-off event, seven practices at Snow Park by Lake Merritt, and four races/fun runs. The races/fun runs include the iconic Oakland Marathon, the Lake Chabot Trail Run, the Fast & Flat 5K and the LMJS 4th Sunday Run. Our Senior Scholarship Applicants will also run the Bay Bridge Half Marathon!
We provide students with everything they need to train, compete, and reach their goals in local races. This includes free running shoes, a performance running shirt, dedicated coaches, a structured training program, healthy snacks, transportation, entries to local races, a safe space to run, and a community of unwavering positive support.
Thanks to the continued support of our partners and donors, RBO is able to continue offering our program for free to runners of all ages! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today to support Oakland students as they train and compete in races!
